A special emphasis from our church planting partner in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

What is Forgotten Places Sunday?
This is a Sunday where we come together to do the following during our Sunday worship:

  1. Communicate about the gospel need in the south coast region of Massachusetts.

  2. Pray for the mission of Neighborhood Churches, and specific needs.

  3. Share about upcoming mission trips to New Bedford (ours is in June 2025.)

  4. Provide opportunity for church members to help Neighborhood Churches reach their Christmas financial goal of raising $350,000 for the renovation and establishment of The Ministry Center in New Bedford.

Pure Religion Sunday

Pure Religion Sunday

Together we join with the Church around the world to remember God’s heart for vulnerable children and families in our communities.

Rooted in James 1:27, Pure Religion Sunday invites all believers to live in ways that are decisively different and set apart (holy) and embody self-giving sacrifice (helpfulness) for the orphaned, widowed and vulnerable among us. It’s about growing deeper in our faith and living out our faith wider – recognizing that when we move toward the hurting and hard places in our world, we not only reflect Jesus but also grow more like Him each day.

Pure Religion Sunday rises from the heritage of Orphan Sunday and Stand Sunday, where a small, humble church in Zambia (Orphan Sunday, 2002) and another in Brownwood, TX (Stand Sunday, 2002) responded to God’s call to welcome and care for the vulnerable children of their communities.

Together, we believe that we are not all called to do the same things, but we are all capable of doing something to help children and families experience God’s unfailing love. Everyone can do something! We invite you to prayerfully consider what your “something” might be!

Better Together Training

Training for families volunteering with Better Together with their Better Families program.

Better Families is aimed at preventing neglect and abuse before foster care is necessary. Our unique model enables parents who have fallen on hard times to voluntarily place their children with a loving host family for up to a year. The average stay is only 45 days, and 90% of families are reunited in 90 days or less. As unpaid volunteers, host families focus on caring for the children, while a network of Better Together volunteers and partners help the parents get back on their feet. By design, 100% of the families are reunified, and we’re pleased to report that 98% of them stay together and out of the foster care system.
